Manchester United target Victor Osimhen could reach the level of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, according to Italian football expert Conor Clancy.

The Napoli striker has been in outstanding form in Serie A this season, which has caught the attention of several top European clubs.

What's the latest news involving Osimhen?

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), the Red Devils, who are in desperate need of a forward this summer, have made an approach to Napoli, who are demanding £93m for his services.

Osimhen only scored 10 goals in all competitions last term, but he's taken his game to another level this season, striking 18 times in 31 appearances, including four goals in five Europa League matches.

United want to sign another striker when the window reopens for business because Edinson Cavani will leave once his contract expires, while Anthony Martial's future is uncertain.

Furthermore, the Old Trafford outfit have scored less than 60 goals in a Premier League season for the first time since 2016-2017, and Clancy, who describes him as one of the best on the planet, believes that Osimhen could add serious firepower to United's frontline.

What did Clancy say about Osimhen?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "He's an incredible player and he will go on to do whatever he wants to do, because he's that good.

"I don't think many players come close to him in the world. I know we've got Haaland and Mbappe, but Osimhen is probably capable of reaching that same category. If not in terms of number of goals, just what he can do to an opposing defence, because anyone that plays against him is terrified."

How does Osimhen compare to Haaland and Mbappe this season?

As Clancy mentioned, in terms of goalscoring numbers, the other two are miles in front, although Haaland and Mbappe are arguably regarded as the top two players in world football right now.

Mbappe has been directly involved in 62 goals this season, scoring 36 times, while chipping in with 26 assists to help PSG win back the Ligue 1 title. The France international has been ruthless throughout the entire campaign, finding the net more than once in a game on 10 occasions.

Meanwhile, Haaland hasn't played as much, but the Norwegian continues to put extraordinary numbers on the board. In 30 games for Borussia Dortmund, he scored 29 goals, finding the net once every 82.3 minutes.

Osimhen has scored far less than those two, but his stats are improving with every season, having almost doubled his tally from 12 months ago, which would be a good sign should he move for United this summer.
