Justice was certainly served between Michel Pereira and Zelim Imadaev at the UFC Vegas 9 event back in 2020.

Imadaev slapped his rival when the two faced off at the weigh-in before the fight and Pereira provided the perfect response.

After being slapped at the weigh-in, Pereira pointed at his rival, which suggests he knew what the final outcome would be.

The Brazilian went on to win the fight via a third-round submission and many will feel his victory was much-deserved after the Russian’s antics before the fight.

The 28-year-old Pereira did get his own back and actually repeatedly slapped Imadaev himself before finishing off the fight in devastating fashion.

Afterwards, the Brazilian revealed that he was determined to get payback for the incident pre-fight.

He said: “I don’t know why exactly he did this, but I told him I would pay him back, and I did in the fight. I’m a man – you cannot slap my face.

“I showed my hand, I kissed my hand and I slapped him so he can learn he’s not going to do it again. He cannot do that.

“I didn’t feel when he tapped, but the position was very, very tight. So in that case, he would tap or he would sleep.”

Pereira earned a $50,000 performance of the night bonus while his opponent had to suffer the consequences.

That was actually the last time we saw Imadaev in the Octagon and it’s not surprising because he was completely humiliated on the night.

It was a big win in Pereira’s career as he had previously suffered back-to-back losses to Tristan Connelly and Diego Sanchez.

The win over Imadaev was followed by successes against Khaos Williams, Niko Price and Andre Fialho, with all of the victories being via unanimous decision.

‘Demolidor’ is back in action on Saturday night against Santiago Ponzinibbio in an exciting welterweight match-up.

The Argentine would be wise not to try and wind-up his opponent because that could lead to him suffering a similar fate to Imadaev.

The fight is on the same card as Holly Holm against Ketlen Vieira and Chidi Njokuani against Dusko Todorovic.
