Aston Martin have unveiled completely redesigned sidepods at the Spanish Grand Prix as they hope for improved performance from the AMR22.

The Silverstone-based team is looking to climb up the running order in the near future and will be hoping that a change to their sidepods is going to allow them to do that.

Indeed, many have drawn similarities between the design and that of the Red Bull which, given the RB18's strong pace so far this season, may well be a comparison that the British team will take.

Speaking to MotorsportWeek.com, Aston team principal Mike Krack had this to say:

“[We] want to have continuous development and bring updates all the time – sometimes they are a bit bigger, sometimes a bit smaller, but it is important to keep the development alive.

“We have three main points we are working on. One is aero, the most important one. Second is car weight, very important as well.

“And the third is how we can provide better feedback [from the car] to our drivers that goes into the suspension, into the steering, these kinds of things, the set-up of the car.”

Both Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll will be hoping that the men in green see improvements thanks to these updates.

The AMR22 has shown a little bit of improvement in recent races with them looking better at Imola and then Miami and they'll hope that this is going to build on that.

Certainly, they are making gradual steps in the right direction and if this update can continue that then perhaps we'll see them challenging for points again this weekend in Barcelona.
