The saga of Kylian Mbappe's footballing future has dominated the headlines for quite some time now.

Paris Saint-Germain's star man has been heavily linked with a free transfer to Real Madrid in the summer.

Mbappe's current deal at PSG expires at the end of the 2021/22 season and the lure of the Santiago Bernabeu looked as if would be too good to resist.

But after weeks of reports claiming the 23-year-old striker will swap Paris for Madrid, it now looks like he will remain on home soil for the time being.

An exclusive report by Eurosport states that Mbappe's move to Real Madrid is now 'almost impossible' after PSG made an extraordinary new contract offer.

Believe us when we say the figures quoted are an absolute joke.

Mbappe is set to receiving a signing bonus of €300 million and a yearly wage of €100 million (twice as much as what Barcelona president Joan Laporta previously stated), which works out at just over €1.9 million each week.

That's just beyond crazy, isn't it? It'll be one of the most lucrative deals in football - and sporting - history.

No wonder Mbappe is now in line to extend his stay at PSG alongside the superstar pairing of Lionel Messi and Neymar, eh?

An official announcement by the player himself is expected some time this week.

According to L'Equipe, it could happen after the team's final Ligue 1 match of the season versus Metz on Sunday.

Mbappe will look to sign off his magnificent individual campaign in style, with his numbers in 2021/22 bordering on the ridiculous.

The former AS Monaco man has scored 25 goals and assisted a further 17 in league action this season, which is a truly remarkable return.

However, even those stats can't mask the fact that the money PSG are throwing at him is ludicrous and certainly not a positive for the sport we all love.
