Eddie Hearn admits he'd get 'chinned' if he fought Jake Paul

Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn has admitted that he’d probably get ‘chinned’ if he fought YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

Within the sport of boxing, it’s not an exaggeration to say that Eddie Hearn is one of the best promoters out there. Many fans and fighters alike may not be big fans of the Englishman but when it comes to success, there are few achieving what he is right now.

His exploits have taken him to every corner of the planet and they’ve also led to him interacting with some pretty fascinating characters – including Jake Paul.

In recent months, the two have been going back and forth at one another quite a lot as a result of their joint promotion for Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano.

They even had a sitdown interview with Ariel Helwani, during which Hearn had more than a few thoughts on Paul as a boxer.

Now, in a chat with talkSPORT, Hearn has suggested that he even considered calling ‘The Problem Child’ out.

“You’re not going to see me in the ring unless the money is right,” Hearn said.

“I thought about calling Jake Paul out but, then again, I would get chinned and that would be embarrassing.”

“I thought about Leonard Ellerbe but he’s a bit older. He’d probably chin me as well,” Hearn joked.

“I could beat Bob Arum. I mean, he’s 90. It is bad when I’m a slight favourite to beat Bob Arum at 90. No, I can’t fight, and you won’t be seeing me in the ring unless the money is right.”

The next step for Jake Paul

At the age of just 25, the world is Jake Paul’s oyster.

The youngster has already had a collection of big moments since turning pro, including knocking out the likes of Nate Robinson, Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley.

He’s made it known that he’s going to be returning to the boxing ring in August, but it’s not yet known who he’s going to take on.

A plethora of potential opponents have been mentioned as you can imagine. Alas, it does seem as if Tommy Fury is leading the pack, largely due to the beef they’ve had since their December showdown was cancelled.
