Real Madrid 0-0 Betis: Double guard of honour takes place before La Liga clash

Real Madrid’s La Liga season has come to an end.
Los Blancos welcomed Real Betis to the Santiago Bernabeu on Friday evening.
Despite having wrapped up the title some weeks before and with a Champions League final on the horizon, Carlo Ancelotti named a strong side for the game, with Karim Benzema, Luka Modric and Vinicius Jr all starting.
However, they were unable to find the back of the net as the game ended in a drab 0-0 draw.
The game was played in a good spirit and there was a wholesome moment before the match as both sides paid respect to another.
Real have been in a league of their own this season and are Spanish champions, while Real Betis also enjoyed great success in 2021/22 as they won the Copa del Rey in April.

So, there was a double guard of honour as both sides made their way on to the pitch.
Real players lined up on two sides and clapped Betis’ players as they made their way on to the field. Betis players then repeated the gesture.
It was a lovely moment and you can watch it below…

So classy. That’s sportsmanship at its finest.
Betis have finished the campaign on 65 points. They have finished in fifth, which is their best league campaign in 17 years. They will play in next season’s Europa League.
Real now have their eyes on the Champions League final.
They will take on Liverpool in Paris on May 28. Los Blancos will be looking to win their 14th European Cup title.
