In June 2019, Liverpool won their first trophy of the Jurgen Klopp era. After falling at the final hurdle in the 2017/18 Champions League, the Reds went one better and lifted the famous Big Ears trophy for the sixth time in their history.Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano thanks to an early penalty from Mohamed Salah and a late goal by cult hero Divock Origi. It certainly wasn't a great final for the neutral, but Liverpool and their fans didn't care about that one bit. There were emotional scenes on the pitch after the game, including the most heartwarming embrace between club captain Jordan Henderson and his father, Brian.Henderson's father is a throat cancer survivor and while he was going through treatment, he asked his son not see him.

The tears were flowing and it was arguably the highlight of the entire evening.

Not long after, Brian was interviewed on the pitch by Optus Sport.

“It’s just very emotional, the tears come, you start shaking, you grab your wife, you grab your daughter-in-law, you grab anybody that’s around you,” he said. “I’m just so, so happy.

“When he [Jordan] was 10 I took him to see a Champions League final at Manchester United between the two Milans and he said to us, when they came out to the Champions League music, he said, ‘dad I’m going to play there one day’.

“He’s done it not once, but twice. And he’s won one. I’m absolutely delighted for him.

“I think if he hadn’t picked that trophy up today he would have had a bad, bad summer. But now he’ll have a fantastic summer with the children.”

Towards the end of the interview, Brian spotted Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher and the two then shared a wonderful moment.

“How good is that, watching your son lift the European Cup!?” Carragher said.

Brian then responded: “You’ve done it pal!”

You just love to see it.

“Where’s the party?” Carragher added. “I’ve got about four to go to!”

We reckon it's a safe bet that Carragher, Henderson and Henderson's father Brian all enjoyed their evening nearly three years ago in Madrid.
