W Series leader Jamie Chadwick enjoyed the perfect racing weekend out in Barcelona to celebrate her 24th birthday.
The two-time champion secured pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix and brought home her third straight win of the season after a flawless Saturday afternoon drive.
Chadwick's latest result marks her fifth back-to-back win — something that has never been seen before in the W Series.
It was an all-British podium finish in Barcelona as Chadwick was joined by compatriots Abbi Pulling and Alice Powell in the top three.
The 24-year-old felt the pressure of Pulling, who finished second, throughout most of the race as the top three battled against the intense heat.
But a smooth drive from the reigning champion marked her third win of the season and she currently sits at the top of the drivers' standings on the maximum of 75 points.
"I'm still very focused, anything can still happen but we've got a lot of confidence and a lot of momentum and I just want to keep using that to get the results that we've been fortunate to get," Chadwick said after the race. "I feel like we're on a nice roll at the moment and I just want to maintain that as much as possible throughout the season.
"A perfect weekend was the best present I could've asked for. My whole focus aside from my birthday has been on having as strong a weekend as possible and keeping the momentum so that's all I could've wished for."
A perfect weekend
Chadwick started the weekend with a strong practice session, finishing ahead of the pack with a best time of 1:45.517, just above Spain's Belen Garcia.
Qualifying was another superb drive from the Brit — she bettered her time from practice to secure her second pole of the season heading into the Spanish Grand Prix.
Powell joined Chadwick on the front row of the grid, with Pulling just behind alongside Beitske Visser.
Both Chadwick and Pulling had a perfect launch, with the latter able to use her early charge to overtake her mentor Powell. Her smart driving earned her a second career podium finish but it wasn't enough to edge out the powerhouse that is Chadwick.
The Jenner Racing star is on an incredible winning streak and will welcome the upcoming break to recuperate and train ahead of a home Grand Prix at Silverstone in July.
With Pulling now second in the drivers' standings, she will be looking to close the gap on her fellow Brit throughout the remaining seven races.
"I’m proud of myself after bouncing back from Miami and a bit of a poor qualifying," the 19-year-old reflected. "I started on the front foot here and big thanks to my team.
"I had good pace, couldn’t quite get Jamie but it’s still a good result for me. I was right behind her on the last lap, and I know what I need to do in the next races to move forward again."
