Haas boss Guenther Steiner has sounded optimistic that we'll see an improved spectacle at the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon, thanks to the new regulations in Formula 1.

The Circuit de Catalunya has thrown up some processional races in the past unfortunately, thanks to the layout of the track and the difficulty cars have had following one another close enough to overtake around here.

The latter issue, though, is something that the new regulations have sought to alleviate and so, with that said, this weekend's race could be a very good test of just seeing how things might have improved race-ability wise.

Indeed, Steiner is hopeful that we'll see a decent Grand Prix this afternoon - though he didn't want to commit to guaranteeing a classic for obvious reasons.

"I think it'll be a little bit better," Steiner said to Give Me Sport's George Dagless among the media on Saturday.

"It'll never be perfect in any car race, especially in cars with big wings, but we have seen this year that there's been quite a bit of overtaking more than before so we will see.

"Obviously here it's not easy to overtake here in general. Let's see, I don't want to jump to conclusions but I think it's been a bit easier, in general, this year."

It's certainly going to be intriguing seeing how the new regulations potentially spark the race into life here in Spain this afternoon.

The track hasn't always been able to deliver classics over the years but a change in the rules and regulations with the cars could well bring about some change.
