Valtteri Bottas was left pleased once again at the end of the Spanish Grand Prix as Alfa Romeo sealed more points with his car in Barcelona.

Bottas brought home a sixth-place finish in Spain and could have perhaps had even more but for the huge tyre wear problems that were being had in the hot Barcelona conditions.

Indeed, he was running in fourth but his tyres were shot and that made him easy pickings for Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton.

That said, Bottas was still pleased with the result, with him saying to the Alfa media team post race:

“We got some good points today and we take plenty of positives home.

"Our pace throughout the race was really strong and it was nice to be in battles with the big teams ahead – it shows how much progress we are doing and how the upgrades we brought here seem to work well.

"In the end, we chose to be aggressive and take a risk with the strategy, going for a two-stopper when everyone else went for three: it didn’t pay off, as the tyre life of the medium compound was a bit shorter than we anticipated and we struggled at the end, but we still brought home a good result. I’m really looking forward to Monaco now, our car should be pretty good there.”

Onto Monaco for Alfa, then, and Bottas will be looking for better fortune there than he did last year where a jammed wheelnut ruined his Grand Prix when driving for Mercedes.
