Mikel Arteta is hoping to bolster his left-back department in the upcoming window and the £25m-rated Bologna ace appears to be on his summer list.
What’s the latest news involving Hickey?
Hickey turned out 36 times in the Italian top-flight this season, scoring five goals and laying on one assist.
As a result, Arsenal are keen on his services, with the report suggesting that contact between the two clubs is imminent.
However, at this current stage, Taylor believes that Hickey, recently compared to legendary Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets for his ability to play in several positions, isn’t close to signing for the Gunners.
What did Taylor say about Hickey?
He told GIVEMESPORT: “He’s obviously an interesting player who’s taken an unusual path to Serie A, but he fits the profile Arsenal are looking for. He’s young, versatile and has got a good ceiling.
“So, there is definite interest in Hickey, but nothing at the moment to suggest it’s a done deal.”

Do Arsenal need Hickey?
Arteta currently has two left-backs at his disposal, but neither Kieran Tierney nor Nuno Tavares have proved reliable enough in their own rights this season.
On his day, Tierney, Hickey’s teammate on the international stage, is comfortably the club’s number one left-back, but the ex-Celtic defender has missed almost 50 games and started only 53.5 per cent of Premier League fixtures since he joined Arsenal in 2019.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s other left-back, Tavares has struggled in his first season in English football, highlighted by the fact he started just six of the nine top-flight matches when Tierney was out injured recently.
Tavares was notably hauled off at half-time in the Gunners’ 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace, and hasn’t always been trusted by Arteta, which probably explains why the Spaniard is hoping to bring in an upgrade when the window reopens for business on 10 June.
He did score a crucial goal against Manchester United, but it appears that the 22-year-old could well be replaced in the months ahead.
