Tottenham selling Tanguy Ndombele this summer is "on the cards", according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The £31.5m-rated midfielder hasn't played for the north Londoners since the beginning of January and spent the second half of this season on loan at Lyon.

What's the latest news involving Ndombele?

With Lyon not expected to activate the Frenchman's option to buy clause that was included in the loan deal, Ndombele will return to Tottenham this summer.

However, Football Insider believe the midfielder, once described as a 'genius' by ex-Spurs manager Jose Mourinho, will train on his own upon his return to Hotspur Way, which suggests that Antonio Conte's stance on the France international remains the same.

Prior to Ndombele's January departure, the Tottenham boss forced him to train alone following his incident against Morecambe, which saw him booed off by his own supporters.

Once he does return to London, Ndombele, who provided one goal and two assists in 15 matches on loan at Lyon, will still have three years left on the six-year deal he signed in 2019, but O'Rourke thinks that a summer departure could still very much happen.

What did O'Rourke say about Ndombele?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "With him coming back and training on his own, it's far from ideal. So, I think for everybody involved, they would like to get his future sorted and then a move away from Tottenham is on the cards for Ndombele on a permanent basis."

Has Ndombele played his last game for Tottenham?

Unless something unexpected happens, then it's hard to see a way back for Ndombele.

Even before his January exit, he had started just once in the league under Conte, and that came when the squad were hit by a COVID-19 outbreak.

Conte leaving could result in a reprieve for Ndombele, although having guided Tottenham back into the Champions League on Sunday, it's tough to see the Italian quitting.

Therefore, once the summer window reopens for business, Spurs will surely be doing all they can to get the midfielder out of the club in some capacity, whether that be a on a permanent basis, or a temporary deal if no one is willing to match Tottenham's asking-price.

Where Ndombele, who earns £200,000 per-week, is playing his football next season remains anyone's guess, but it's unlikely to be at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
