Edinson Cavani was involved in an altercation with fans after his final appearance for Manchester United on Sunday.

The Uruguayan striker played the full 90 minutes against Crystal Palace but was unable to prevent United slumping to a 1-0 defeat.

Wilfried Zaha scored the only goal of the game as Man Utd suffered their 12th Premier League defeat of the campaign in front of newly-appointed head coach Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag was in no mood to speak to reporters as he left Selhurst Park. The former Ajax boss has a huge job on his hands to turn things around at Old Trafford.

A host of players are set to leave United this summer, including Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba and the aforementioned Cavani.

Cavani was a big hit with Man Utd fans during his debut campaign with the Red Devils, scoring 17 goals in 39 appearances.

But his popularity has waned in recent months after missing a host of matches, mostly due to injuries.

In 20 games in all competitions this term, the 35-year-old only managed to find the net twice.

And after making his final appearance for the club, Cavani was clearly unhappy with something that was said as he made his way to the team bus.

Edinson Cavani shows fans the middle finger

Footage was posted to social media showing Cavani pointing to a supporter before showing him the middle finger.

Watch it here:

JOE claim Cavani’s offensive gesture was made in the direction of the travelling fans.

However, it’s unclear from the footage whether Cavani was unhappy with United supporters, or someone else.

In any case, it’s not a great look.

Something bad must have been said because it’s surprising to see Cavani, who comes across as a genuinely nice guy, reacting in this way.

We recently saw how the South American striker made a young girl’s day outside Old Trafford, so it’s a shame to see his United career ending on a sour note outside Selhurst Park.
