Tottenham will look at the Serie A market for signings this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The north London club have been linked with several players from the Premier League, but Jones still expects manager Antonio Conte and director of football Fabio Paratici to return to Italy for new additions.

What is the latest transfer news involving Tottenham?

Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus is the latest English top-flight player to be touted with a move to Hotspur Way.

According to The Telegraph, Spurs are ready to battle their north London rivals Arsenal for the Brazilian's signature.

The above comes after the same outlet claimed that Aston Villa's John McGinn is also on Conte's shortlist, with the former Inter Milan boss thought to be targeting six new signings.

Tottenham ensured their qualification for next season's Champions League after beating Norwich City 5-0 in their final Premier League fixture of the term, so Conte will be desperate for reinforcements ahead of the club's return to Europe's elite competition.

What has Jones said about Tottenham's transfer plans?

While Tottenham continue to be linked with a host of players from England, Jones is still expecting Paratici to use his contacts back home.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer insider said: "Generally, I still expect them to look at the Italian market. Paratici's still got most of his contacts there - knows the game better there - and I think there are enough players in that market that can still benefit Tottenham."

Which Serie A players have Tottenham been linked with?

Unsurprisingly, there has been talk about Conte raiding his former club Inter this summer.

As per Football Insider, Tottenham, Aston Villa and Newcastle United have all identified defender Stefan de Vrij as a target.

The 30-year-old is out of contract next year so should not cost that much, with the above outlet claiming that he is available for £15m.

De Vrij's team-mate Lautaro Martinez is also said to be in Spurs' sights. While The Times has stated that the Premier League outfit have other priorities right now, they say there is interest in the Argentine forward, who also happens to be on Arsenal's radar.

It will now be interesting to see who Tottenham do actually manage to land this summer. But given all of these reports, it looks likely that they will do most of their shopping in England and Italy as Conte tries to build a more competitive squad.
