Iga Świątek revealed she was "pretty happy" with her 54-minute victory in the first round of the French Open. The Polish tennis star cruised past Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko 6-2, 6-0, completing her rout in under an hour.In her post match interview, Świątek revealed she would be going sightseeing in Paris after her dominant win.“I'm pretty happy that I finished early,” she said. “I have some media – wow, exciting stuff.“Then maybe we'll go somewhere in Paris to see something. You will see on my Insta story if you're interested.”Świątek has now won 29 matches in a row, a streak that stretches back to the Qatar Open in February and includes four WTA 1000 titles. If the 20-year-old wins the French Open, she will become the first player to win more than five titles in a single season since Serena Williams earned seven in 2014.It will be the second Grand Slam of her career – Świątek was the French Open champion in 2020.

“I just want to keep going, I'm aware that someday my streak may stop,” she said. “I'm just working every day to be 100 percent focused on my tennis, but not on the stats or numbers.

“Just playing tennis and focusing on my game, and being in a bubble that's going to help me really be consistent. I was doing that in the past weeks and I'm gonna continue doing that here.”

Świątek rose to world number one after Ashleigh Barty’s shock retirement in March. She has started where Barty left off, becoming the dominant force in women’s tennis.

Indeed, former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu told reporters this weekend that she felt ÅšwiÄ…tek was setting the standard.

“She’s definitely setting a high precedent right now,” she said. “For me at least it’s very motivating.

“She’s like the new Ashleigh Barty of the tour, because Ashleigh was winning a lot, as well. It’s very motivating. I’m very impressed with how she’s doing.”
