The Hammers finished a memorable campaign in seventh position in the Premier League table and are widely expected to strengthen David Moyes’ first-team squad when the transfer market reopens next month.
What is the latest news involving West Ham?
After ending the 2020/21 campaign in sixth place, West Ham reached the Europa League semi-finals this time around, treating their supporters to a deep run in a continental competition.
However, large sections of the fanbase were still left disappointed at the capital club’s lack of action in the January window, with no new faces arriving to help their fight on multiple fronts.
And that was despite first-choice centre-back Angelo Ogbonna picking up a season-ending knee injury in November, while Michail Antonio remained the only recognised striker in Moyes’ setup.
The output of former loan star Jesse Lingard was also not replaced as summer signing Nikola Vlasic scored just one goal in 19 Premier League appearances while failing to provide a single assist.
What has Taylor said about West Ham?
Lingard registered nine goals and five assists in just 16 top-flight fixtures last term, and Taylor believes a similar player in his ‘mould’ will be targeted by West Ham alongside a new forward.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “A number 10 in the Lingard mould (may be targeted).
“The way Antonio against Manchester City was pulling the defenders wide, and nobody was really filling that space that he was vacating. So, I think a number 10 or another striker could be something they look at 100 percent.”
Who could West Ham sign?
According to the Daily Mail, West Ham’s hierarchy are plotting a £20 million move for Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis after he shone for the Hornets despite their relegation.
The Nigeria international racked up 16 goal contributions in his 33 Premier League outings this term and is unlikely to be plying his trade in the Championship at Vicarage Road next season.
Meanwhile, talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has previously informed GMS that West Ham’s interest in Lingard has ‘never gone away’.
The east London outfit had an offer turned down by Manchester United for the 29-year-old in the winter but could revive their interest in the attacking midfielder, who is set to become a free agent.
