Manchester City clinched a fourth title in five seasons as another epic Premier League campaign has come to a close, following one of the greatest final day's in years.

The drama was ramped up to the max in an incredibly exciting 2021/22 campaign, with the Premier League title, final Champions League position and final relegation spot all being decided on the season's last matchday.

With the season over, though, it's the perfect time to reflect on individual performances. While that is the very last thing fans of some clubs will want to do, there are always positives to pick out, no matter how dismal a season might have been.

It can be quite difficult to look for the positives for Burnley, Watford and Norwich who all kiss goodbye to top flight status, or Manchester United who stalled into a Europa League finish despite starting the season with all the hype in the world.

Equally, it's difficult to find an underrated performer among the ranks at Liverpool and City with just about all of their players operating at maximum capacity, but we at GIVEMESPORT have given it a go.

Here is the most underrated performer at every Premier League club during the 2021/22 season.

Arsenal - Ben White

Non-Arsenal fans were extremely quick to write off White when Arsenal parted with £50m to pry him away from Brighton. Despite a shaky start to the campaign, the Englishman has quietly been one of the most consistent and progressive defenders in the league, looking incredibly bright and always composed. Commendable considering the jump in expectations.

Every Premier League club's most underrated player

Aston Villa - Jacob Ramsey

Breaking into the first-team in 2020, Ramsey's development at Villa has flown under the radar for those not watching the club every week. A combative midfielder with quick feet and ability around the opposition goal, he's stepped up massively and shoulders a lot of responsibility at just 20 years old. Don't be surprised if he's knocking on the door of Gareth Southgate soon enough.

Brentford - Yoane Wissa

With all the hype on the likes of Christian Eriksen, Ivan Toney, David Raya and others, Wissa has somehow gone under the radar while being one of Brentford's best performers. Plying his trade from left wing, Wissa managed seven goals and an assist, but was constantly a creative threat and looked supremely comfortable at Premier League level in his debut season in the English top flight.

Brighton - Leandro Trossard

We could've given this to several Brighton players, because their development under Graham Potter continues to be magnificent. Trossard isn't a name that isn't being mentioned enough, though. Having previously struggled to prove a consistent threat on goal, the Belgian finished with his highest Premier League goal haul to date with eight, while also grabbing three assists.

Trossard is very important for Brighton

Burnley - Josh Brownhill

Burnley had a few standout stars in an otherwise dismal season that saw their six season stay in the top flight come to an end. While everyone rightly raved about Maxwel Cornet and continued to give Nick Pope credit, it was Brownhill's consistent performances in midfield that plenty didn't take note of. Tidy in possession, physical and strong in advancing play, he could prove a bargain for interested clubs.

Chelsea - Marcos Alonso

Injury to Ben Chilwell seriously disrupted Chelsea's season, considering how vital their wing back system is to their overall approach play. But things could have gone even worse had Alonso not seamlessly slotted in as he always does to fill the void. Was he perfect? Of course not, but given how hard a job it is to match Chilwell, there are plenty who would've struggled a lot more. The Spaniard held things together.

Crystal Palace - Will Hughes

A signing that went completely under the radar in Patrick Vieira's mightily impressive debut season with Palace, Hughes brings unwavering composure and press resistance to the Eagles' midfield. Featuring just 16 times, whenever he has played, he's looked incredibly composed and slotted in seamlessly. Should Palace fail to retain Conor Gallagher for next season, he could play an important role.

Everton - Alex Iwobi

It's fair to say nobody would've seen this coming, so nothing but respect to the much improved Iwobi. Given a new lease of life in a deeper, more central role under Frank Lampard, the 26-year-old found an incredible stride of form as Everton made a dramatic dash to safety. Here's hoping he can keep it going.

Leeds United - Jack Harrison

Harrison is hardly a player that gets slammed every week, but he also isn't very highly thought of outside of the Leeds bubble. And considering he's managed ten goals in all competitions, he deserves more respect. Insanely skilful, always available and a hard worker, Harrison can only get better under Jesse Marsch.

Leicester - Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

An academy graduate and a late bloomer, Dewsbury-Hall was on loan at Luton throughout the 2020/21 season, and after putting together a stellar campaign in the Championship, has been key for Leicester in the top flight. The midfielder has refreshed Leicester's options and gives them a solid platform to rebuild moving forward.

Liverpool - Joel Matip

Always regarded as a great player marred by injury problems, Matip has completely ripped up the script this season and established himself as one of the best performing defenders in Europe. Without his 43 appearances across all competitions, Liverpool simply would not have been fighting for silverware on so many fronts. Entirely transformed.

Manchester City - Rodri

It feels like a big reach calling Rodri underrated, but it's the manner of his performances this season which have been so impressive. Previously viewed as a traditional six that controlled play but let the other midfielders steal the headlines, the Spaniard has become their big game player this season and added a new dimension to their attack. That dimension? Scoring worldies when City were in need of a hero.

Manchester United - Fred

Manchester United sit in a similar camp to their noisy neighbours in that it's hard to call any of their players underrated. Where they differ, though, is the reasoning, because the Red Devils have been woeful. Fred has been an anomaly for the most part, though, looking much more comfortable in an advanced role under Ralf Rangnick.

Newcastle United - Emil Krafth

Injury to Kieran Trippier so soon after his January arrival was a worry for Newcastle, but Krafth stepped in and stepped up tremendously to fill the void. The Swede left a lot to be desired under Steve Bruce, but has looked a new level of confident under Eddie Howe and quietly helped Newcastle along to a brilliant second half of the season.

Norwich - Teemu Pukki

Scoring double figures in such a scarily out of their depth Norwich side is a serious testament to Pukki's abilities. No doubt he'll look every bit a world beater again as they drop into the Championship, his services in the Premier League are overlooked, because of how poor the Canaries have been.

Southampton - Kyle Walker-Peters

With all the hype following Tino Livramento up until his unfortunate, season-ending injury, Walker-Peters seems to have been forgotten about. Doing everything a modern full back should, the Englishman is quietly incredibly handy, joining attacks but also keeping things organised at the back.

Walker-Peters is an underrated right back

Tottenham - Eric Dier

After a difficult few years in the post-Pochettino era, Dier has quietly been reborn in a strong 2021/22 season. Looking full of confidence once again, the Englishman has shown his versatility, leadership and defensive quality in abundance since Antonio Conte arrived at Tottenham. An England recall isn't an absurd prospect.

Watford - Dan Gosling

Versatile, experienced and always willing to put in a shift, Gosling only playing four Premier League games but making this list sums up just how poor a season it's been for Watford. For someone with so much experience to give, he should've featured a lot more regularly, impressing whenever he did.

West Ham - Lukasz Fabianski

In a tremendous season for the Hammers, plaudits could go to several players, but the fact Fabianski played 37 out of 38 Premier League games while facing competition from Alphonse Areola is immense. Aged 37, the Polish stopper has showed no signs of slowing down, consistently ticking over as Mr. Reliable between the sticks.

Wolves - Daniel Podence

Two league goals and three assists doesn't wow you on the surface, but Podence's performances were brilliant for Wolves when called upon. Regularly in and out of the team, it's always been difficult for him to find a groove, but the Portuguese winger always knits play together and Wolves miss him severely when not called upon.
