Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is 'ready' to seal a move to Old Trafford when the transfer window opens for business next month, according to journalist Conor Clancy.

Erik ten Hag has moved into the Red Devils' hot seat and could make Lazio midfielder Milinkovic-Savic his first signing since heading to the Premier League.

What's the latest news involving Milinkovic-Savic?

Manchester United are understood to be leading the race for Milinkovic-Savic's signature as his agent, former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman, has revealed the Lazio man's preferred destination is Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are facing stiff competition from French giants Paris Saint-Germain, with Lazio looking to recoup as much as £59million.

It has previously been reported by Italian media outlet Corriere della Sera, via The Sun, that Milinkovic-Savic has been ear-marked as a long-term replacement for Paul Pogba.

But Kezman has hinted there could be even more suitors than Manchester United and PSG as he admitted 'Sergej has no shortage of offers for the summer transfer window'.

Milinkovic-Savic is set to enter the final two years of his £75,000-per-week contract at Lazio, meaning his current employers are in a strong negotiating position.

What has Conor Clancy said about Milinkovic-Savic?

Clancy believes Milinkovic-Savic is capable of rising to the challenge of the Premier League by joining Manchester United.

The Serie A expert feels the 27-year-old is likely to leave Lazio during the upcoming transfer window, which opens next month.

Clancy told GIVEMESPORT: "I think he's been ready for that move for maybe three years. I remember last time they had their title push, which was the year that was interrupted by Covid - the 2019/20 campaign - and he was one of the keys in that.

"Since then, he's not regressed or gotten any worse. He's still a brilliant player and he's done it under Maurizio Sarri now as well, but I think this summer is the summer that he leaves Lazio."

What would Milinkovic-Savic bring to Man United?

Milinkovic-Savic has just enjoyed a hugely productive season, with him scoring 11 goals and chipping in with a further 12 assists in 47 appearances.

His end product could prove crucial to a Manchester United side which finished 13 points adrift of Champions League qualification.

The Red Devils have failed to win a single piece of silverware since 2017, but lifting trophies is something Milinkovic-Savic has become accustomed to.

The 30-cap Serbia international has clinched the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana during his time on Lazio's books, while he also enjoyed success in his homeland.

Not only would that winning mentality benefit the Red Devils, but Milinkovic-Savic has been described as a 'complete midfielder'.
