West Ham United are set to 'make an offer' to take outgoing Manchester United star Jesse Lingard back to the London Stadium, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Hammers are looking forward to another season of European football after finishing seventh in the Premier League standings and it appears, in the meantime, boss David Moyes is seeking a reunion with Lingard.

What's the latest news involving Lingard?

West Ham have made 'initial enquiries' with Lingard's representatives as he enters the final weeks of Manchester United career.

The creative midfielder's £75,000-per-week Old Trafford contract is due to expire next month and the Hammers are eager to beat other suitors to his signature.

Roma, AC Milan and Juventus are reportedly keen on Lingard and willing to offer a route out of the Premier League.

Newcastle United, meanwhile, have pulled out of the race due to the 29-year-old's demands of a £150,000-per-week contract and lucrative signing-on fee.

West Ham, along with Newcastle, attempted to sign Lingard on loan during the January transfer window, but they were unsuccessful in their pursuit.

What has Dean Jones said about Lingard?

Jones understands West Ham are preparing an offer as they step up their interest in Lingard.

The transfer insider believes the Hammers will make a proposal despite his hopes of securing a big-money contract.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "They are going to make an offer to Jesse Lingard. They haven't got around to it just yet, but there is going to be something happening on that front.

"We'll just have to wait and see what that Lingard proposal is, first of all."

How did Lingard perform during his initial spell with West Ham?

Lingard joined West Ham during the final days of the 2021 January transfer window, with him spending the remainder of the season on loan from Manchester United.

The move paid off from the attacking midfielder and Hammers' point of view as he went on to score nine goals and register a further five assists in 16 appearances.

The 32-cap England international's impressive form proved crucial as the east Londoners chalked up a club-record Premier League points tally.

With that in mind, West Ham may not have gone on to reach a major European semi-final for the first time in 46 years were it not for Lingard's exploits up until his temporary stay at the London Stadium came to an end 12 months ago.
