Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka has disappointed people behind-the-scenes at the club with his performances over the last three seasons, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Wan-Bissaka moved to Old Trafford in 2019 for £50m, but has found it difficult to live up to expectations, and his time at United could be coming to an end.

What's the latest news involving Wan-Bissaka?

The 24-year-old fell out of favour under Ralf Rangnick in the second half of the season as he started just six league games after the turn of the year.

With Erik ten Hag replacing Rangnick in the dugout, Wan-Bissaka may have hoped for a fresh start under the Dutchman this summer.

However, it has been reported by Sky Sports that United are open to selling the 6 foot right-back when the transfer window re-opens. The club would prefer a permanent deal, but would also accept a loan move with an obligation to buy.

What has Jones said about Wan-Bissaka?

Jones has hinted that Wan-Bissaka may still have a chance of getting another opportunity at United, but he has claimed that the £27m-rated defender has not impressed since arriving as a 21-year-old.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said: “It’s a big moment for Wan-Bissaka. He wants to play at a club at the highest level, and that’s where Man United are aiming to get back to. That’s what he thought he was joining. But now he’s got to prove he’s actually up to it. I think a lot of the people around the club aren’t particularly impressed by what he’s brought so far.”

How does Wan-Bissaka compare to the best right-backs in the league?

From a defensive perspective, Wan-Bissaka actually compares favourably with Kyle Walker, Reece James and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

According to WhoScored, the United full-back has made more tackles (2.5), interceptions (1.7), clearances (1.6) and blocks (0.7) per 90 minutes than his fellow countrymen.

However, the other three registered 23 assists between them in the Premier League, whereas Wan-Bissaka did not manage any, while James and Alexander-Arnold also have better numbers when it comes to goals and key passes.

The modern full-back is expected to be able to contribute defensively and offensively, and Wan-Bissaka clearly has problems with making an impact in the final third, which is why United may look to get him off their books ahead of next season.
