AlphaTauri driver Yuki Tsunoda has said that he is eyeing a stronger performance in Monaco this weekend than at the Spanish Grand Prix.

The Japanese driver is having a positive season so far, with him bringing an extra level of consistency to his performances and making less mistakes than he did during his rookie campaign last year.

That's perhaps to be expected, though, and he is showing that he can now bring more control to his driving as well as the phenomenal pace it was clear he always had.

He scored another point in Spain last weekend, then, but admitted that the event overall in Barcelona was not as good as the team wanted and that he is actually hoping for better this time around in Monaco, as the seventh round of the world championship looms:

“Spain was a tough weekend, when we never really got the car working the way we wanted, and the pace was just not there," Tsunoda said.

In Qualifying, I think I got the most I could out of the car, but it wasn’t enough. As for the race, it was a long, hot afternoon on Sunday, and I was quite happy to score one point, but it’s not where we want to be and now, hopefully we can have a better time in Monaco."

It's a set of comments that show just how tuned in Tsunoda is this season and his employers will be really happy with that.

He's a driver with great talent and he looks to be honing things well in terms of becoming a more rounded package at the wheel.

He's well aware of what he wants to achieve and what the car can achieve, and when things aren't up to scratch he's eager to look into it and improve.
