Tottenham might appeal to Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling, believes transfer insider Dean Jones.

The 27-year-old's future is currently up in the air, and Jones would not be surprised if the player and Spurs both explored a move this summer.

What is the latest news involving Sterling?

According to The Telegraph, Sterling is a player Antonio Conte would be interested in signing if he decides to leave the Etihad in the upcoming transfer window.

The above certainly looks like a possibility, with the England star set to enter the final year of his £300,000-a-week contract.

He scored 13 times in 30 Premier League appearances this season as City went on to successfully defend their title.

However, after seven years at the club, it appears that £76.5m-rated Sterling could now be ready for a change of scenery.

What has Jones said about Sterling to Tottenham?

Jones is refusing to rule out the possibility of Sterling joining Tottenham this summer, believing it is a move that both parties could be open to.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer insider said: "If he was going to go anywhere else, you'd imagine there might be some appeal to go back to London, where he grew up. I can see why it might be one that comes on the radar for both parties."

Could Tottenham face competition for Sterling?

Yes, which is hardly a surprise given the quality of Sterling, who has been described as "phenomenal" by Gareth Southgate in the past.

Speaking about the former Liverpool man last year, City manager Pep Guardiola said (via Sky Sports): "He's helped us for sure. He will fight to be better and better. It is important for strikers and wingers to score and make assists. He was decisive and decisive in what we've done in recent years."

In terms of teams Tottenham face battling if Conte really does want Sterling, London rivals Chelsea are one other club who have been mentioned.

Also per The Telegraph, the Blues could consider making a move for the England international as Todd Boehly looks to back Thomas Tuchel in the transfer market.

The German is set to be handed a £200m budget this summer, so finding the money to bring Sterling to Stamford Bridge should not be a problem.

Conte, though, will be hoping that he can lure him to Hotspur Way and build on what was a successful 2021/22 season after guiding Tottenham back into the top four at the expense of north London rivals Arsenal.
