Cody Rhodes has teased fans with a tweet that could suggest he could be the cover star of the next WWE video game instalment WWE 2K23.

Since his return to WWE at WrestleMania last month, WWE has presented Rhodes as a major player on Raw. Adding a ‘Countdown to Cody’ clock to his appearances on the show, and he’s line to main event Hell in a Cell on Sunday week, with his clash against Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins inside the Hell in a Cell.

With his profile bigger than it has ever been in WWE, podcaster James Stewart put forward the idea of having Rhodes as the cover star for the next video game in their franchise, WWE 2K23.

In response The American Nightmare didn’t exactly reveal that he’s in-line to grace the cover of the new game, however, he did hint that he’s set to play a big part in the project.

I don’t know the talented folks at @WWEgames- but I’m a pretty decent gambler and I would bet they’re working very hard on something special for pro wrestling fans...

The spot on the cover of WWE’s popular 2K series has long been seen as a coveted position, and over the year’s we’ve seen big hitter such as Becky Lynch, Goldberg, Stone Cold Steve Austin and the current, which sees Rey Mysterio as its cover star.

According to a report from Sports Gamers Online, there had been an idea pitched for Cody to be part of WWE 2K22, once it was known that he was returning to the company. The plan was to have Rhodes as a special DLC character to celebrate his comeback, but according to ‘a person close to the developmental team’ it was quickly shot down.Â
