Everton target Conor Gallagher has similarities to Mason Mount and would be a "huge signing" for the Toffees, claims journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The Chelsea midfielder is currently being linked with a move to Frank Lampard's side following a successful loan spell at Crystal Palace.

What is the latest news involving Gallagher?

The Daily Star recently reported that Everton are one club who are interested in signing Gallagher this summer.

Palace, where the 22-year-old spent this season, have also been mentioned. However, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed that he will return to Cobham, where the German will take a look at him.

"They [Gallagher and Armando Broja] will come back for sure," the Blues boss was quoted as saying by the Daily Echo earlier this month.

"I want to have them in pre-season and we will decide in pre-season what goes on. It is heavily up to them and how they do."

What has O'Rourke said about Gallagher to Everton?

Although he thinks they are different players, O'Rourke can see similarities between Gallagher and his Chelsea team-mate Mount and has told GIVEMESPORT that he would be a huge signing for Everton.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: "You can see similarities though slightly different players. You'd say Mason Mount's more of an attacking midfielder, but I think Conor Gallagher's had an outstanding season for Crystal Palace. If Everton were to get him, he would be a huge signing for them."

What would Gallagher bring to Everton?

This season, Gallagher showed that he is capable of scoring goals from midfield, registering eight times in the Premier League.

What the Goodison Park faithful will probably love about him, though, is his work rate. The England international brings a lot of energy to the middle of the park, something Palace manager Patrick Vieira has spoken about.

Gallagher is a Chelsea boy, so the chance to play regularly under a club legend like Lampard may tempt him to make that switch to Everton for the 2022/23 season.

However, all of the noises coming out of Stamford Bridge suggest that the Blues academy product, who is valued at £42m by the CIES Football Observatory, will be a part of Tuchel's first-team squad next term.

Still, there is nothing wrong with the likes of Everton and Palace trying to lure Gallagher away from Chelsea. If this season is anything to go by, he is certainly worth all the effort and drama.
