It was revealed recently that during Wardlow's series of tests on his way to facing MJF, he was very close to coming face to face with a current top free agent.

On the May 4th edition of AEW Dynamite, Wardlow was set to face another giant opponent after being victorious against 'The Murderhawk Monster' Lance Archer the week before.

His opponent was revealed to be IMPACT Wrestling's W.Morrissey, formerly known in the WWE as Big Cass. Morrissey would put up a good fight against Wardlow but ultimately would fall victim to a powerbomb symphony similar to that of how he defeated Lance Archer.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, W.Morrissey was one of a few names that were considered to be the mystery opponent of Wardlow.

Another name suggested was former NXT Champion and WWE Superstar Karrion Kross, now known as Killer Kross.

The report states that the idea was shortly suggested just after ROH's Supercard Of Honor event where Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux were heavily rumoured to appear at the event.

The plans didn't commence, Fightful reports, due to Kross learning that Bordeaux would not be joining him if he agreed to the match. Reports also suggest that Kross felt the booking may have been very similar to that of the booking where he lost to Jeff Hardy in his brief run on Monday Night Raw. Therefore if plans were to be in place with AEW then he would want a run similar to that of his time in NXT.

Fightful select also reported that during the talks between AEW and Kross there was no animosity between both parties and that both sides would be open to working with one another in the future.
