Manchester City star Raheem Sterling is 'weighing up his future' and could head overseas if he leaves the Etihad Stadium this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Sterling has been on City's books since completing a £49million switch from Liverpool close to seven years ago, but it appears there is a possibility that he will be on his way out of the club in the not-too-distant future.

What's the latest news involving Sterling?

Pep Guardiola led City to the Premier League title on the final day of the season, with a sensational 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa proving crucial, and Sterling played a key role in the contest.

Having been left out of the starting line-up, the attacker climbed off the bench and grabbed an assist as Ilkay Gundogan began the fightback from a two-goal deficit.

Sterling has sprung to the attention of Arsenal and, according to The Telegraph, the north Londoners are ready to explore a summer move.

The report suggests there are serious doubts over whether the 74-cap England international will be on City's books by the time next season gets underway and Arsenal are preparing to pounce if Sterling's current employers are open to sanctioning his departure.

Sterling admitted earlier in the campaign that he is interested in heading overseas before hanging up his boots, suggesting he has thought of leaving the Etihad Stadium.

What has Dean Jones said about Sterling?

Jones believes Sterling was frustrated after being left out of City's starting line-up for the season-defining encounter with Aston Villa on the final day.

The transfer insider feels the 27-year-old, whose £300,000-per-week contract expires in 13 months, could be persuaded to seal a Premier League exit.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "I heard he was not too impressed at being left out on Sunday, and that’s definitely not the first time he has felt that way this season.

"He’s weighing up his future and I really do think he is tempted to move abroad."

Would Sterling's departure come as a major blow?

Sterling has enjoyed another hugely productive season, with him registering 26 goal contributions in 47 appearances.

He was also able to get his hands on the Premier League trophy for a fourth time, while he has secured the Carabao Cup on five occasions, the Community Shield twice and the FA Cup.

Sterling has clearly enjoyed a trophy-laden career at the Etihad Stadium, with him finding the back of the net 131 times along the way, but his precarious contract situation could result in boss Guardiola feeling he has no choice but to sanction his exit.
