Soccer Aid celebrates its eleventh anniversary this year with an array of famous faces returning to the pitch in support of charity.
In a match held annually, the English face the Soccer Aid World XI FC, a match comprised of Champions League winners and show hosts.
The world’s largest celebrity football match, Soccer Aid for UNICEF, was founded by Robbie Williams in 2006 and has already raised more than £47 million.
This summer, England will play a Soccer Aid World XI at West Ham United’s London Stadium on 12th June, however, what will make the event more special is the fact that Harry Redknapp, Emma Hayes, and David Seaman will manage England, while Arsene Wenger and Robbie Keane will manage the World XI.
Besides the fact that this match is not to be missed, we’ve highlighted some of the standout moments since the first match in 2006.
Kem Cetinay’s brilliance
In one of the most exciting goals scored in a Soccer Aid match, Love Island’s star Kem Cetinay’s wondergoal in the 2021 edition of the fundraiser levelled the score for World XI FC, taking the game to penalties.
The Soccer Aid World XI FC then went on to win the match after England missed three penalties.
Ronaldinho The Nutmeg King
During the 2016 match, Ronaldinho found time to gently slide the ball between Ben Shephard’s legs while looking the other way.
The move was made even better moments later when the icon nutmegged Phil Neville seconds later.

Edgar Davids vs Jonathan Wilkes
Edgar Davids and Jonathan Wilkes got heated during the 2014 Soccer Aid match, and it was one of the highlights of the match.
Wilkes confronted Davids on the pitch after he was harshly challenged by the former Dutch midfielder. After the match, there were no hard feelings between the players after the game as both posed for a picture together.
Mourinho’s tackle on Olly Murs
Another iconic Soccer Aid moment occurred when Jose Mourinho tackled Olly Murs during that 2014 match.
Running out over the side-lines the Portuguese manager tripped up the X Factor star before retreating back to the bench, leaving Olly in disbelief as both teams saw the funny side with the stadium erupting in applause.
Zidane rolling back the years
Zinedine Zidane was one of the calmest midfielders during the 2010 game, but Damian Lewis came charging at him the Frenchman spiced things up and rolled the ball between Lewis’ legs leaving him red-faced in front of the crowd.
Kasabian musician, Serge Pizzorno stole the show in 2012 with his magnificent chipped goal, probably one of the most memorable goals ever scored in a Soccer Aid match.
This football charity match is always watched by many around the world, and no doubt will happen again this year.
