McLaren driver Lando Norris has confirmed he'll be driving his car from the get-go this weekend after missing media duties in Monaco on Friday morning.

The Briton was suffering with tonsillitis last weekend at the Spanish Grand Prix which, combined with 35C heat in Barcelona, was hardly the most pleasant weekend for him.

He's been using this week to recover, though, and is looking to try and earn more points this weekend around the streets of Monte-Carlo after earning a podium here in 2021.

He did, though, spark some fears he might not be ready to drive today after missing out on media engagements at the start of Friday but that was more taken as a precaution, and he is fit enough to drive from the very start of the weekend in FP1, which takes place this lunchtime.

Taking to Twitter, Norris confirmed:

Norris is currently 7th in the Drivers' standings and is having another good campaign as he looks to help McLaren climb towards the front of the pack.

He earned points last weekend in Spain despite all the illness and that was some effort, particularly given how hot it was.

In relatively cooler conditions and with the illness subsiding, then, Norris should now be able to focus fully on attacking the streets of Monaco, and that is vital as without 100% concentration you soon find yourself having a chat with the Armco and sliding along the walls with a tonne of damage.
