Currently, known as The Witcher 4 has entered pre-production and this comes directly via CD Project Red. Here’s all you need to know about this.
CD Project Red surprised everyone by revealing that they will be making a brand new Witcher game, set in the same universe but not an exact sequel to The Witcher 3. The game was first announced earlier this year, but the studio didn’t delve into many details.
The announcement of the Witcher 4 (lack of an official word) was accompanied by a picture of a medallion, which teases the new School of the Lynx, a seemingly new school being invented for the new game.
Recently, CD Project Red shared some new updates regarding the game’s development via their blogpost. The developers have revealed that the Witcher 4 has officially ended its research phase and entered pre-production.
Here’s all you need to know about the Witcher entering pre-production.
The Witcher 4 pre-production
After what seems like an eternity, we finally are getting a brand new Witcher game with fresh faces and a unique, original story. It looks like the developers are fairly on schedule with the upcoming title and the development work is going satisfactorily.
In the post, president Adam Kiciński said, “We are very eager to revisit the universe which has shaped our history to such an extent. We have recently concluded the research phase for the first game in the new Witcher saga, which means that from now on further development expenditures will be capitalized on our balance sheet.”
While it is great to know that the game has entered pre-production, don’t expect to see the new title anytime soon. The Witcher 4 is still ways off into the future. The number of people working on the latest project is expanding but a majority of CD Projekt’s development team is currently hard at work on the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion.
Given that the first expansion is slated to arrive sometime in 2023, it’s understandable why the company would want to focus on that. All in all, it’s still great that the Witcher 4 has entered pre-production and the game is a step closer to getting shipped.
