Soccer Aid 2022: Every celebrity and player confirmed for the upcoming game

Soccer Aid 2022 is coming!

The annual charity extravaganza grows bigger every single year, with a variety of celebrities and former football players linking up to provide vital funds to Unicef.

This year’s game is set to take place at the London Stadium and will kick off on June 12th.

There have been a number of stars already confirmed for the game, from Champions League winning ex-players to celebrities, to former athletes themselves.

As a result, we’ve taken a look at every single name that has been confirmed for Soccer Aid 2022, and we’ve broken down exactly who they are, so you know who you’ll be supporting at West Ham United’s stadium!


Every celebrity and player confirmed for Soccer Aid

The two teams will be split into an England side and a Soccer Aid World XI.

Most of these names will be well known to football fans up and down the country but, just in case, we’ve produced a small explanation of each player!

England XI

Liam Payne – A former member of One Direction, Liam Payne is now embarking on a solo singing career. He will captain the England team.

Tom Grennan – Another popstar, Grennan has a background in professional football, having been on the books at Luton Town, Northampton Town, and Aston Villa, but he channeled his abilities into music.

Chunkz – A YouTube superstar, Chunkz shot to fame after appearing in the Man’s Not Hot music video, and now produces challenges and pranks on YouTube.

Gary Neville – A Manchester United legend, Neville has won the Premier League trophy eight times, the FA Cup three times, the League Cup twice, and the Champions League twice.

Jamie Carragher – A Liverpool legend, Carragher played for the Reds between 1996 and 2013 and won two FA Cups, three League Cups, the Champions League and the UEFA Cup.

Fara Williams MBE – Williams is the highest-capped player in the history of the England Women’s team, winning 172 caps for her country, having played for Chelsea, Charlton, Everton, Liverpool, Arsenal and Reading at club level.

Joe Cole – A former England international with 56 caps, Cole played for West Ham, Chelsea, Liverpool, Lille, Aston Villa, Coventry and the Tampa Bay Rowdies, winning the Premier League three times.

Alex Brooker – Brooker is a comedian best known for appearing on The Last Leg, and will become the first-ever physically disabled participant to play in the game.

Damian Lewis – A world-class actor known for Band of Brothers, Homeland and Billions.

Sir Mo Farah – One of the most decorated athletes this country has ever produced, Farah has won four gold medals at Olympic Games.

Mark Wright – Wright is a television personality who appeared on The Only Way is Essex and he has plenty of footballing background, having played for West Ham, Arsenal and Spurs at youth level. He recently played professionally for Crawley Town.

David Harewood – A storied actor, Harewood is perhaps best known for his role in Blood Diamond alongside Leonardo Di Caprio, while he was also a star in Homeland.

Teddy Sheringham MBE – An ex-Manchester United and Spurs striker, Sheringham won 51 caps for England and won the Premier League three times, while also lifting the FA Cup and the Champions League.

David James – Ex-England goalkeeper James won 53 caps for his country and had a varied career, playing for the likes of Liverpool, West Ham, Manchester City and Portsmouth.

Aitch – A rap sensation, Aitch has collaborated with the likes of Ed Sheeran throughout his career.

Mark Noble – The former West Ham captain retired at the end of the season and will have one last chance to say goodbye to the London Stadium at Soccer Aid.

Harry Redknapp – The ex-Spurs boss has not managed since 2017, when he left Birmingham City, but he is perhaps best known for guiding Portsmouth to an FA Cup victory in 2008.

David Seaman – Another ex-England goalkeeper, Seaman won the Premier League twice and the FA Cup four times, with Arsenal.

Emma Hayes – One of the most successful managers ever, Hayes has won the Women’s Super League five times and the Women’s FA Cup four times.

Soccer Aid World XI

Usain Bolt – Perhaps the very best Olympic sprinter ever.

Martin Compston – A star of British stage and screen, Compston is perhaps best known for his role as Steve Arnott in Line of Duty.

Mo Gilligan – A Bafta-winning comedian, Gilligan is very much a comedian who is set for stardom.

Chelcee Grimes – Grimes is now a presenter on television but played for Everton, Spurs, Tranmere Rovers and Fulham throughout her footballing career, while she has also forged a career as a songwriter.

Patrice Evra – An ex-Manchester United legend, the Frenchman is a five-time Premier League winner and a one-time Champions League winner.

Steven Bartlett – An entrepreneur, Bartlett is now a member of Dragon’s Den.

Carli Lloyd – Lloyd is a former United States international and has won 316 caps for her country, placing her second for appearances, and she also has the fourth-most goals for the States.

Noah Beck – Primarily a TikTok star, Beck has a background in football and has played professionally for the Portland Pilots in the US.

Lee Mack – A famed comedian perhaps best known for his sitcom Not Going Out.

Munya Chawawa – Chawawa is a comedian who has shot to fame with his hilarious TikTok videos.

Kem Cetinay – Cetinay is a TV personality who previously appeared on Love Island.

Cafu – A Brazil legend, Cafu won the World Cup in 1994 and 2002 and has played for the likes of Roma and AC Milan, winning Serie A twice and the Champions League once.

Andriy Shevchenko – The Ukraine legend won 111 caps for his country and went on to manage them, while also becoming an icon at AC Milan, where he won Serie A and the Champions League.
