A group of Liverpool fans used a speedboat to travel to France ahead of Saturday night’s Champions League final in Paris. The men were set to travel to the French capital by air but their plans were scuppered when their Easyjet flights were cancelled.Determined to be in Paris for Liverpool’s final against Real Madrid, Jersey-based Paddy O’Toole and 12 others came up with a novel idea to cross the English Channel on Friday.Paddy told The Liverpool Echo: "My lad Patrick’s mates Adam and Tom Dring who are from Huyton, had their EasyJet flight cancelled, so their dad rushed them down to Heathrow to try a get a flight but there was nothing. They got a flight to Jersey last minute and they met up with us and asked could we get them to France."We felt sorry for the young lads so we had to do something."Once the fans arrived in Jersey, Paddy ensured that his pals would be in Paris after getting in contact with a friend who owns Le Mourier, an expert swimming tuition company with a fleet of motor vessels. Before they knew it they were setting off on a speedboat headed for Saint-Marlo in France.Footage posted on social media shows the men on the boat making their way over the Channel while listening to music from a speaker.

“Just pulling into France,” one of the passengers can be heard saying. “We must be off our f***ing heads.”

The story is made even more remarkable by the fact that none of the men have a ticket for the final at the Stade de France.

Paddy said: "We saw a few dolphins on the way and got the train to Rennes and then to Paris. A few more of are mates from Liverpool who live in Jersey heard we were going and joined on. We haven't got a ticket between us."

Now that’s what you call dedication.

They’ve since arrived in Paris and are excited for what could be one of the greatest nights in Liverpool’s history.

Le Mourier tweeted the fans: “We are glad you enjoyed your voyage and wish you the very best onward journey.”

As many as 60,000 Liverpool supporters are expected to be in Paris, having travelled by coach, train, car, plane and, yes, speedboat.
