Chelsea star Sam Kerr has named her dream five a side team and itâs stacked with world class names.
The Australian forward enjoyed another stunning season for the Blues ââ winning the Womenâs Super League and FA Cup double, plus clinching the WSL Golden Boot for the second year in a row.Â
In an interview with FIFA ahead of the Womenâs World Cup in 2023, the 28-year-old named the five players sheâd put in her dream team, including both male and female stars.Â
Ronaldo and Mbappe included
The first player Kerr named was Man United forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scored more than 1000 goals for club and country across his career.Â
âIâd go Ronaldo as one, because heâs my favourite player,â she admitted.
The Man United star is renowned as a ruthless goal scorer in much the same way as Kerr and finished as the Red Devilsâ top scorer in the Premier League last season with 18 goals.Â
Aside from Ronaldo, Kerr also chose PSG star Kylian Mbappe. âI just think heâs electric and I love watching him play,â she said.
Despite speculation of a move to Real Madrid, Mbappe has now signed a new contract to stay in Paris until 2025. According to reports, the Frenchmanâs contract includes a monthly wage of $4.7 million (£4m).Â
Kerr chooses Chelsea teammate
Itâs no surprise that Kerr included Blues teammate Fran Kirby in her 5-a side team. The two have formed a near unstoppable partnership across the past couple of seasons and have been nicknamed âKerrbyâ by Chelsea fans.
âI love playing with her [Kirby],â Kerr stressed.
Kerr also chose former teammate Yuki Nagasato, who she played with for the Chicago Red Stars.
The striker is a former World Cup winner and scored 58 goals in 132 appearances for Japan.
âMe and her [Nagasato] had a really good connection,â she said.
Kerr includes herself
The Australian opted not to choose a goalkeeper for her side ââ instead picking herself.
Indeed, Kerr would be a valuable addition to any five a side team as she continues to prove herself as one of the best players in the world.
Having finished third in the 2021 Womenâs Ballon dâOr, the forward is well in contention to win the prestigious award this year.
