Liverpool fans turned out in the thousands to celebrate the team’s success on Sunday.

Despite the disappointment of the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, supporters lined the streets of the city to cheer the players following their double trophy-winning season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side won the FA Cup and the League Cup. They had dreams of a historic quadruple but were unable to add the final two trophies to the collection.

Yet there was no sense that the fanbase was disappointment as Liverpool’s players enjoyed an incredible reception at the parade.

Fireworks and flares were set off, painting the city red, while DJ and Liverpool fan Calvin Harris joined the players onboard one of the open-top buses to soundtrack the event.

Of course, Klopp and his players would have loved to have been able to show off the Premier League and/or Champions League trophies at the parade.

But days like Sunday are a reminder of how far the club has come under the German.

It was a proper party in the city.

Video: Liverpool's parade vs Man City's

Liverpool’s parade came one week after Manchester City celebrated their own triumph in Manchester, with an open-top bus making its way through the city centre after Pep Guardiola’s side clinched their fourth title in five years.

Unfortunately for City, rival fans poked fan at what was perceived to be an underwhelming turnout in Manchester.

And a video has now emerged that highlights the difference in their parade compared to Liverpool’s.

Some Liverpool fans on social media enjoyed revelling in the turnout for their parade.

Liverpool fans have set the bar high when it comes to celebration parades - it was reported that 750,000 packed the streets when they won the Champions League in 2019.

So in their defence, City aren’t the only fanbase whose turnout would appear small in comparison to Liverpool’s.

Klopp and his players really have revitalised the red half of Merseyside. You can’t help but admire it.
