The below tweet summed up the feelings of Real fans towards the striker, who will apparently earn £650,000-per-week after penning a new three-year deal at the Parc des Princes.

It’s obvious that Real supporters really wanted Mbappe. His decision to stay in Paris has left much of the fanbase frustrated.

Benzema reacts to Mbappe snub

So, will Mbappe ever play for Real Madrid?

Right now it's hard to imagine so. It's not just the Los Blancos fans who will be upset by his decision to stay at PSG, but the club's chiefs will too.

His compatriot Karim Benzema believes Mbappe's decision must be respected.

"I would have liked him to have been able to fulfil his dream of playing for Real Madrid, being together," Benzema told Telefoot, per Marca.

"He chose PSG, we must respect him. It's his choice, he has a lot of responsibilities.

"We will enjoy playing together in the national team. Everyone makes their own choices."
