Tottenham "could definitely" sign Lautaro Martinez this summer, according to journalist Jacque Talbot.

Antonio Conte has expressed his desire to bring in another forward in the upcoming window, and Talbot believes that Inter Milan's financial problems could see the Italian raid his former employees.

What's the latest news involving Martinez?

According to the Telegraph, the Spurs boss, who recently committed his future to the club, wants to sign another striker to help his side's chances of competing in the Premier League and Champions League.

Football.London recently wrote up a shortlist of players, which included the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Darwin Nunez, and Victor Osimhen.

Meanwhile, the report states that Conte and Fabio Paratici are 'fans' of Martinez, although bringing him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium might be 'extremely difficult' because he signed a new deal at San Siro less than 12 months ago.

Tottenham attempted to sign the Argentina international last summer and had even agreed a fee with the Serie A giants, although Martinez's contract extension ended Spurs' interest.

But Talbot reckons that Inter's need to raise funds this summer could help Tottenham's chances of signing the 24-year-old, who's due in London later this week for Argentina's game against Italy at Wembley.

What did Talbot say about Martinez?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Inter Milan need to make money, they need to sell players to make money.

"They're in debt, they need to make about 50 million Euros. Getting someone like Martinez is on Spurs' list and could definitely happen."

Why do Tottenham want Martinez?

Not only has Martinez played under Conte previously and enjoyed two stellar seasons in doing so, but he's widely regarded as one of the biggest talents in the Italian top-flight.

Since making the move from South America just under four years ago, he's established himself as a proven goalscorer, netting 74 goals across all competitions, with 25 coming last season, which was the best return of his career.

Martinez, described as an 'animal' by Lionel Scaloni, has also laid on 24 assists in his 181 appearances for Inter, proving, like Harry Kane, that he's both a creator and scorer of goals.

With Martinez currently valued at £63m by Transfermarket, prising him away from San Siro looks an awfully difficult task, but adding him to a frontline which already includes Dejan Kulusevski, Heung Min Son and Kane would put Tottenham's attack up there with the best in European football.
