Former World’s Strongest Man Mariusz Pudzianowski put down the dumbbells and strapped up the four-ounce gloves to dip his toes once again in the world of MMA over the weekend. His recent MMA outings have gone a little differently to the likes of CM Punk and James Toney, who had previously been unsuccessful in their quest for glory inside the steel cage. Pudzianowski’s power on the Strongman stage has translated perfectly to MMA, evidenced by a brutal first-round knockout over his opponent Michael Materla in KSW70. It seemed that Materla had bitten off a little more than he could chew with Pudzianowski, who outweighed him by a colossal 32lbs.Materla felt the difference in power when Pudzianowski clipped him with a beautifully timed uppercut that sat him down on the canvas. This was followed by a rather unnecessary hammer fist that completely shut out Materla’s lights. Before perusing a career in MMA, Pudzianowski had previously made a name for himself by capturing gold in multiple Strongman championships.

The Polish man had previously won World’s Strongest Man, Strongman Super Series, Europe’s Strongest Man and Poland’s Strongest Man.

Years spent flipping tyres, pulling vehicles and deadlifting obscene amounts of weight have set the 45-year-old up perfectly for a career in MMA.

His power is quite clearly devastating, it only takes one clean shot for him to send his opponents’ chins into the stratosphere.

Jumping in at the deep end has served the Polish man well. In his first 10 bouts, Pudzianowski bested MMA legends such as Bob Sapp and Sean McCorkle, and is currently riding an impressive five-fight win-streak.

Puzianowski doesn’t hang around for long. His victory over Materla came off the back of an 18-second demolition of Bombardier in 2021.

He also holds the record for the most amount of KO’s in the history of KSW. An impressive feat for a man who has served in two taxing athletic professions.

This is the best winning run of Pudzianowski’s career. They call it a young man’s game, but the 45-year-old is defying odds and taking chins home with him!
