Gareth Bale received the send off he deserves from Real Madrid fans during the club’s trophy parade on Sunday. The Wales international has endured several difficult years at the Bernabeu after losing his status as one of the first names on the teamsheet. His commitment has constantly been questioned in recent seasons, his relationship with the Madrid press has been awful during that time, and he’s even been booed by his own supporters on a handful of occasions. It probably would have been better for all concerned had Bale left the club several years ago, but the forward’s incredible contribution to Real Madrid should never be forgotten.gareth bale with UCL medalPARIS, FRANCE - MAY 28: Gareth Bale of Real Madrid reacts following their sides victory in the UEFA Champions League final match between Liverpool FC and Real Madrid at Stade de France on May 28, 2022 in Paris, France. Real Madrid fans' reaction to Gareth Bale during trophy parade

And while celebrating the club’s La Liga and Champions League title wins on Sunday, there were a couple of lovely moments where Madridistas, for the first time in ages, showed their appreciation to one of their best players of the past decade.

Bale, who was conspicuous by his absence during Madrid’s celebrations after winning La Liga, may have feared a negative reception when he walked out onto the pitch in front of thousands of supporters inside the Bernabeu.

But it was lovely to see there’s still plenty of mutual respect between Bale and the Real Madrid faithful.

Another video shows Madrid’s fans chanting “Bale! Bale!” as he walked around the pitch with his children. He raised his hand in appreciation before signing autographs.

Is Gareth Bale a Real Madrid legend?

Since joining Real Madrid from Tottenham in 2013, Bale has won five Champions Leagues, three La Liga titles, three UEFA Super Cups and the same number of FIFA World Club Cups.

He also won Real Madrid the 2013-14 Copa del Rey with one of the most legendary goals in the club’s history.

In total, he scored an impressive 106 goals in 258 appearances.

While the past few years have tarnished his legacy in the eyes of the fans, it’s great to see that his Real Madrid adventure still had a reasonably happy ending.
