If Leeds United manage to sign Sergino Dest and Tyler Adams then it would be a ‘statement of ambition’ from the club, according to journalist Jacque Talbot.

The west Yorkshire outfit have been linked with ambitious moves for the duo in recent weeks as manager Jesse Marsch looks to make further additions to his first-team squad.

What is the latest news involving Leeds?

Marsch made his first acquisition since succeeding Marcelo Bielsa in the Elland Road dugout by bringing in Brenden Aaronson from Red Bull Salzburg via a £22.2 million deal.

And the American tactician has been tipped to bring in more of his compatriots as the summer transfer window goes on.

According to TEAMtalk, Dest is high up on Leeds’ wish list after he fell down the pecking order at Catalan giants Barcelona following the return of veteran Dani Alves.

The versatile full-back made just 17 starts in La Liga last season, partly due to several niggling injury issues, and has been tipped to seek pastures new as a result.

Meanwhile, MLS insider Tom Bogert has claimed that Leeds will ‘try’ to sign RB Leipzig utility player Adams ahead of next term.

Like Aaronson, Marsch has previously coached Adams, so knows his ability well, and the pair could be reunited on English shores imminently.

What has Talbot said about Leeds?

Talbot believes Dest, 22, would be a solid signing for Leeds and stated that Adams would be a ‘great addition’ for Marsch’s charges.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “Then you've got Tyler Adams, who is a defensive midfielder in the Bundesliga.

“Again, he's only 23 years old; I think he'd be a great addition. I don't see any reason why not. If those signings are made by Leeds, that is a statement of ambition.”

Would Dest and Adams be good signings?

Dest, who is valued at £59m by CIES, is comfortable on either flank, and has established himself as an extremely promising young full-back at former club Ajax and now Barca.

As per FBref, the youngster has ranked in the 98th percentile for progressive carries and completed dribbles, the 94th for touches in the attacking penalty area and the 91st for non-penalty expected goals amongst his positional peers over the last year.

And Adams, who is valued at £26m, has also caught the eye for Leipzig while predominantly playing at the base of the engine room, ranking in the 98th percentile for blocks.

Bringing the two USA internationals to Leeds would surely be seen as a significant coup for Marsch, and he’ll be hoping his countrymen join his exciting project with the Whites.
