Former boxing heavyweight legend Mike Tyson has advised Conor McGregor to take a number of “gimmie fights” when he finally makes his return to the UFC Octagon.McGregor is currently recovering from a devastating leg injury that put his MMA career on pause just under a year ago. The Irishman hasn’t been able to find the spark that he had when he first burst onto the scene in 2013. The man who once seemed an unstoppable force has only managed one victory in his last six fights.Unsurprisingly, McGregor has been extremely vocal over social media during his recovery. He hasn’t hesitated in voicing his opinions on who should meet him in the cage when he makes his return. Rather outlandishly, it seems that McGregor has his eyes on current welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. The Nigerian Nightmare is currently sat atop the pound for pound rankings, and during his reign at the top, has staked a claim to be considered the greatest welterweight the sport has ever seen.Mike Tyson chimed in to give his opinions on McGregor’s current situation, advising that the 33-year-old takes a number of “gimmie fights” as a necessary confidence boost before challenging for a championship.

"After a defeat, you should do a couple of fights to get your feet wet.

"Conor, I think you should build your confidence up and go do what you do: Win excitingly."

McGregor was rumoured to make a return to the UFC during International Fight Week in July, however, Dana White shot this down and said it would be unlikely to see the Irishman back in the steel cage before fall.

According to his social media, Notorious has been working hard in preparation for his comeback bout.

McGregor regularly updates fans with pad work videos, showing the world that he still possesses great power in that left hand.

MMA fans eagerly await the return of The Notorious. Will he take on Iron Mike’s advice and ease his way in, or will we see a rather audacious shot at gold?
