The 26-year-old is thought to be up for sale, giving the Saints an opportunity to sign him if they can agree a fee with their Premier League rivals.
What is the latest news involving Winks?
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham are ready to let Winks go in the upcoming transfer window.
The same outlet states that Daniel Levy will listen to offers for the Englishman and is hoping to bring in around £25m from any potential sale.
However, in the 2021/22 season, he made just eight starts in the Premier League under Antonio Conte.

What has Jones said about Winks and Southampton?
Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Southampton are indeed interested in Winks, though Tottenham’s £25m valuation could be a sticking point.
Speaking to GMS, the transfer insider said: “There’ll be some negotiating to do on that one; there’s no doubt about it. But there is interest from Southampton, so let’s see if they can find a way to do business.”
Would Winks be a good signing for Southampton?
Winks certainly did not play too much football in the season that has just gone, but he would still be a superb addition to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.
He is the kind of midfielder that is neat and tidy in possession, with the England international recording a pass success rate of 88.2% for the 2021/22 Premier League campaign, one of the highest percentages in Tottenham’s squad (via WhoScored).
In the past, former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has even compared him to Spanish pass masters Xavi and Andres Iniesta.
“When we talk about midfielders – because you like to use Spanish midfielders like Xavi and Iniesta – he’s like this type of player,” the Paris Saint-Germain boss was quoted as saying by talkSPORT a few years ago.
Pochettino later went on to add: “Football is his focus, not business that is around football. Maybe [if he learns this] he will arrive to play in a very good level and be one of the best midfielders in England.”
Quite clearly, Winks has not got to that level yet, but he is an experienced midfielder who looks capable of bringing something to Southampton in the middle of the park.
