Federico Valverde played a major role in Real Madrid's Champions League win over Liverpool.Valverde was used on the right-hand side of the attack by Carlo Ancelotti was the task of stopping Andy Robertson from having too much joy from an attacking sense. He did just that, preventing the Scot from bombarding up and down the left flank for 90 minutes. But it was also his cross-cum-shot in the 59th-minute that found Vinicius Junior at the back post to score the only goal of the game.He may not be one of the biggest stars in this Real Madrid team but Valverde played a very important role in this incredible Champions League triumph. However, it turns out trying to stop Robertson wasn't the biggest task he's ever faced. In fact, it wasn't even his toughest task of the night. That's because after collecting his winners' medal and lifting the Champions League trophy, Valverde was giving a TV interview with his young son on his shoulders. His little kid appeared about as excited as every other Real Madrid fan and refused to sit still on his dad's shoulders. And it prompted Valverde to make a little joke that involved Liverpool's left back.“It's more difficult to watch my son than to mark Robertson," he said.

It was a light-hearted joke and we're sure Valverde meant no disrespect to Robertson.

While Valverde will go into the history books after produced a match-winning assist in the Champions League final, even he admitted it was supposed to be a shot rather than a cross to Vinicius.

“I got close to the box, I shot the ball, it ended up being a tremendous pass and Vinicius made it look even better,” said Valverde.

Fair play for being honest, Fede.
