Football is known as the beautiful game.

At times, there can be no denying its beauty.

There's nothing better than seeing a professional footballer in full flight, producing a piece of skill to beat a defender before smashing the ball past the goalkeeper.

However, it's not always beautiful.

And nothing sums that up better than a compilation video of the worst goals of the 2021/22 season.

The eight-minute video has been posted onto Reddit and really needs to be seen to be believed.

From comical own goals to complete flukes, the video really does have it all.

VIDEO: The worst goals of the 2021/22 season

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

Users on Reddit are loving it.

"This is a masterpiece," one wrote.

Another added: "Nah I’m crying real tears, this is the best thing I’ve seen."
A third wrote: "Genuinely laughed out loud multiple times"

"Didn’t know how much I needed this today, absolutely incredible," another added.

While one summed it up by saying: "Best montage ever!"

We shouldn't laugh at some of the unfortunate players involved but we just can't help it.

We said earlier there's nothing better than seeing a professional footballer in full flight, producing a piece of skill to beat a defender before smashing the ball past the goalkeeper.

But we want to change our opinion.

There's nothing better than an unfortunate own goal or a comical mistake that leaves a defender or a goalkeeper with their head in their hands and their teammates looking on in disgust.

The beautiful game.
