Tottenham are waiting on Christian Eriksen to decide on his future but believe "there's a chance" he could return to the club this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Denmark international's short-term contract at Brentford expires later this month and he's been linked with a move back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

What's the latest news involving Eriksen?

Following the goalless draw with Spurs back in April, Brentford manager Thomas Frank admitted that Eriksen, who's scored 101 goals in his club career, will decide on his next move at the end of the season.

But he's currently on international duty with Denmark, preparing for four Nations League games over the next fortnight, meaning clubs will have to wait another couple of weeks.

Jones previously told GiveMeSport that Eriksen had held talks with Tottenham, although Fabrizio Romano revealed that Brentford also want to keep the 30-year-old playmaker.

Despite going more than eight months without kicking a competitive ball, Eriksen quickly put any doubts to bed over him not being the same player by guiding the Bees to Premier League safety with a string of excellent performances.

One display against Chelsea, in which he scored his first goal back in English football, led to Frank describing him as a 'top player' but Jones believes that despite Tottenham making a fast start to the window, they're playing a waiting game with Eriksen.

What did Jones say about Eriksen?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Tottenham are waiting on Eriksen's decision at the moment. He said he wants a few weeks to weigh up what he wants to do, so in June we will discover what Eriksen wants.

"It's kind of out of Spurs' hands at this point in time, but they're very respectful of him weighing up what he wants at this point of his career, but they feel like there's a chance and they're waiting to see."

Why do Tottenham want Eriksen?

With 159 goals and assists during his six-and-a-half years with the club, Spurs know exactly what Eriksen is capable of.

And they saw first-hand that he remains a classy operator following his performance against them back in April.

According to WhoScored, Eriksen was the best-rated player on the day, in which he made the most key passes (4), second-most successful passes (45) and the most accurate crosses (7).

Tottenham were not exactly short of creativity in the final few months of the season, scoring 38 goals in their final 15 games, but adding the Dane to their squad would make for a mouth-watering prospect for Dejan Kulusevski, Heung Min Son and Harry Kane.
