Tottenham Hotspur are set to cash-in on Sergio Reguilon after welcoming Ivan Perisic to Hotspur Way, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Spurs have pulled off their first signing of the summer as it was confirmed Perisic will join after his Inter Milan contract expires at the end of the month, but that could spell the end of Reguilon's career at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

What's the latest news involving Reguilon?

According to The Times, Perisic's arrival has moved Reguilon closer to the exit door and he has already been offered to La Liga clubs by Spurs.

The report suggests the six-cap Spain international may return to Real Madrid as they still have a buyback clause which could be activated.

It comes after Reguilon swapped the Bernabeu for the Premier League thanks to a deal worth £32million being struck less than two years ago.

But the arrival of Antonio Conte, who was appointed as Spurs' head coach last November, appears not to have paid off for the 25-year-old as he has fallen down the pecking order and is surplus to requirements following the swoop for Perisic.

Reguilon may have three years remaining on his £68,000-per-week contract, but that does not necessarily mean he will stay at Tottenham beyond the end of the upcoming transfer window.

What has Ryan Taylor said about Reguilon?

Taylor believes Reguilon is destined to move onto pastures new after Tottenham ensured Perisic will head to north London.

The journalist feels Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon will now fight it out for the left wing-back slot, leaving Reguilon out of the picture.

When asked how Perisic's arrival could have an impact on Reguilon, Taylor told GIVEMESPORT: "I think Sergio Reguilon will be moved on now.

"Sessegnon is still very much a part of Conte's plans and it'll just be a balancing act between them two for the Premier League and Champions League."

How has Reguilon performed for Spurs?

Reguilon has been limited to just 20 appearances since Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium dugout.

However, over the course of his time in north London, he has enjoyed 67 outings and recorded 11 goal contributions.

A potential exit comes after Reguilon, who is valued at £25.2million by Transfermarkt, did not have the best of seasons.

According to FBref, he averaged less tackles and blocks per 90 minutes than Sessegnon during the 2021/22 campaign, underlining why Conte is not convinced by his defensive capabilities and has felt Perisic is required.
