Everton have ‘looked at’ Conor Gallagher and Billy Gilmour as they weigh up potential moves for the Chelsea pair, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The duo both spent last season away from Stamford Bridge, with Gallagher shining brighter than his teammate, yet it remains to be seen whether they feature in Thomas Tuchel’s plans for next term.

What is the latest news involving Everton?

According to talkSPORT, Everton manager Frank Lampard is hoping to use his connections at former club Chelsea to bring Gallagher to the blue half of Merseyside this summer.

The 22-year-old shone on loan at Crystal Palace throughout 2021/22, collecting their Player of the Year award, and Eagles chairman Steve Parish has openly admitted he wants to retain his services.

However, it’s claimed that Lampard is ‘keeping a keen eye’ on Gallagher’s situation and hopes that his legendary status in west London will work in his favour.

Another potential option to strengthen the Everton engine room is Gilmour. The 20-year-old endured a tough time during a temporary stint with Norwich City in the campaign just gone but has shone for his national team.

The Scotland international was tipped to be on Lampard’s radar by transfer insider Dean Jones in an interview with GiveMeSport back in February and it seems as though he remains a target.

What has Brown said about Gallagher and Gilmour?

Brown told GMS: “I know Everton have looked at both players. I think they've got very little chance of getting Conor Gallagher because Gallagher knows he'll get a chance at Chelsea.

“Even if he flunks pre-season under Tuchel, I suspect that Chelsea will try and get him into the team because they know he's an England international now, he had a great season at Palace, where he was their Player of the Year; he has massive potential.

“I only see him being allowed out on loan again if Tuchel decides he's nowhere near good enough to play in his team. And for me and most observers, that's clearly untrue. So, I think he'll get chances at Chelsea.”

Would Gallagher and Gilmour strengthen Everton?

Gallagher, who is valued at £40m by CIES, racked up 13 goal contributions in 39 appearances for Palace, far more than any midfielder currently on Everton’s books.

Meanwhile, Gilmour showcased his true potential with a Man of the Match performance for Scotland against England last summer at Euro 2020 and could bring a much-needed element of control to the middle of the pitch for Everton.

Gilmour, who is valued at £8.5m by CIES, is perhaps the more achievable target for Everton, and Lampard would surely be pleased to see either player arrive at the club ahead of next term.
