Bradford City have made an early bid for announcement video of the summer, with a bizarre WWE themed video to announce the contract extension of Levi Sutton.

Over recent years, announcement videos have become one of the highlights of the summer, as football clubs find various creative ways of showing off a new signing, new kit or new contract.

League Two side Bradford City have kicked things off in a big way, with a WWE themed video to announce the new two-year deal for midfielder Levi Sutton, which is soundtracked by the familiar entrance music of Stone Cold Steve Austin.

The odd video, which gives no real context to the WWE theme, shows Levi waving around steel chairs and attempting to give his best impression of a WWE Superstar. The club have even taken to calling him ‘The Scunthorpe Rattlesnake’ in a reference to Sutton’s hometown.

However, the Stone Cold theme seems to get slightly muddled during the course of the video when the 25-year-old waves his hand in front of his face in the style of another WWE icon, John Cena.

Bradford announced the deal and video by describing it as a ‘bold entrance from @5Sutton’ acting as the only tangible link between the midfielder and the WWE inspired clip.

The video sparked memories of a series of celebration posts by then Ipswich Town striker James Norwood, who’s video homages to WWE Superstars on The Tractor Boy’s Twitter feed went viral during the 2019-20 season.

Norwood’s acted out a series of tributes to Superstars such as The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and admitted to being a lifelong WWE fan.

The 31-year-old is now a free agent having left Portman Road at the end of the season. Perhaps then his next destination should be Bradford, where we’d give a hell yeah to see the pair work on another WWE inspired announcement video.
