Vince McMahon is said to have personally asked The Undertaker to mentor Drew McIntyre during the Scotsman's first run with WWE.

The Undertaker is one of WWE's longest-serving Superstars, having been around the company for close to 30 years.

As such, you'll find many WWE Superstars who speak about how The Undertaker mentored them, or even just gave them advice, as they were coming up in the company.

That's exactly what Drew McIntyre has done, but he's taken it one step further, revealing that 'Taker was actually handpicked to be his mentor.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Drew recalled Undertaker becoming his mentor, and explained that the partnership was actually set up by Vince McMahon.

Drew explained that Undertaker told him to "be the wrestler", which is something he know has started to appreciate given he's been in the business for so many years.

As Undertaker once told me, ‘Don’t play the wrestler. Be the wrestler’. At the time, ’Taker was my mentor, a role assigned by Vince [McMahon].

"I had no idea what he was talking about. I was a wrestler, obviously, right? Now, almost 15 years later, I have a much different appreciation for his lessons. I know who I am every time I step out there, and I know what I’m aiming for."

Interestingly enough, the former WWE Champion has confirmed in previous interviews that he was supposed to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVI in 2010.

At the show, The Undertaker retired Shawn Michaels, and Drew was part of the Money in the Bank ladder match, but 'The Deadman' was actually supposed to face the Scotsman.

McIntyre did end up sharing the ring with The Undertaker, teaming with Shane McMahon in July 2019 at Extreme Rules to face the team of 'Taker and Roman Reigns.
