Manchester City have won four of the last five Premier League titles and you wouldn't put it past them to win another in the 2022/23 campaign.

Why? Well, because the Citizens have rebounded from the astonishing feat of conquering England without a recognised centre forward by signing, erm, a recognised centre forward.

However, the champions haven't just signed any old striker, but rather a 21-year-old sensation with a frankly terrifying goalscoring who's tipped to win the Ballon d'Or one day.

Man City upgrade with Haaland

All in all, it makes for grim reading if you're Liverpool, Chelsea or any team with aspirations to win the Premier League because it looks for all intents and purposes that City now have the final piece of the puzzle.

Besides, there would be many fans, pundits and ex-players alike who would be tipping City to go all the way yet again even in a world where they didn't snap up Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

Because to say that Haaland will have an embarrassment of riches providing him with ammunition is the mother of all understatements as City are up to their eyes in creative quality.

In fact, so easy is it to get lost in all the midfield wizardry that the Citizens have on their books that we wanted to take stock of their resources going into the 2022/23 season.

Man City's potential squad depth

To do so, we trawled through Guardiola's squad and created a projection of how City's squad depth might shape up when they launch their Premier League title defence at the end of the summer.

Not only have we incorporated Haaland into the fold, as well as the returning Julian Alvarez from loan, but we've also lumped in two signings that City could look to make in the coming weeks.

With Fernandinho calling time on his legendary career at the Etihad Stadium and Guardiola light on left-backs, we're tipping the kings of England to invest in their defensive flank and midfield ranks.

And with The Athletic newly reporting that Kalvin Phillips and Marc Cucurella feature prominently on City's wish list, the vision of their squad depth next season fell into place for a terrifying result.

Let's just say that Guardiola could have untold depths of talent and quality to utilise for the 2022/23 campaign and if you don't believe us, then take a look for yourselves down below:

How Man City could line up.

Gulp.

Very worrying for Premier League rivals

Now, it goes without saying that there are a few caveats here because City could just as easily lose some of the players featuring in our graphic as they could sign Cucurella and Phillips.

There are question marks over the future of Raheem Sterling and rumours that Gabriel Jesus is Arsenal-bound, but the resources at Guardiola's finger tips is still mind-boggling even if they do leave.

It is evident that back-up is needed at defensive midfield and left-back as things stand, but moves for Cucurella and Phillips are certainly realistic with City openly chasing further summer signings.

After all, per The Athletic, the club's chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak said just this week: “I can confirm that there will be more players coming in." Make that a second 'gulp'.
