West Ham will look into signing Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The 24-year-old was arguably the Hornets' standout performer during the 2021/22 season and is now being linked with an exit following the club's relegation to the Championship.

What is the latest news involving Dennis?

Dennis' future looks to be away from Vicarage Road, with The Sun reporting that Brentford want to sign him in the upcoming transfer window.

According to them, the Bees have identified the Nigerian as a potential partner for Ivan Toney and could snap him up for £20m.

Prior, the Daily Mirror claimed that West Ham were planning a bid of the same amount, so it looks like Dennis will get the chance to remain in the Premier League.

In his debut campaign in the English top flight, he made 33 appearances and scored 10 goals, which is a respectable return. But in the end, it was not enough to keep Watford in the division.

What has Jones said about Dennis and West Ham?

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that he expects West Ham to look into signing Dennis this summer.

Speaking to GMS, the transfer insider said: "It'll be interesting. There are loads of names that West Ham are looking at at the moment. People like Emmanuel Dennis, I'm sure that they'll be looking into situations like that because they always explore good opportunities, but we'll have to wait."

How did Dennis perform in the 2021/22 season?

According to WhoScored, he was Watford's best player, with his 6.89 rating the highest in their squad.

Those 10 goals also saw him finish the campaign as the Hornets' top scorer, so it is hard to make an argument that the Nigeria international was not their top performer.

When it came to dribbles per game, only Joao Pedro (2.2) averaged more than Dennis (2.1), again showing the kind of attacking threat he brought to the side.

All in all, in the words of his former manager Claudio Ranieri, Dennis is a "very talented player". For £20m, in this market, it does not sound like the worst deal, especially for a club like West Ham, who are in need of another striker.

Not having a real alternative to Michail Antonio probably did hurt the Hammers in the season that has just gone as they tried to juggle their Europa League campaign with their Premier League commitments.

Therefore, if there is a chance for David Moyes to bring Dennis to the London Stadium this summer, then the Scotsman should take it.
