Michael van Gerwen has come out with some strong words about his opponent Jules van Dongen and it's safe to say the darts world is not impressed.

'The Green Machine', who is currently competing in the US Darts Masters, has revealed that he has been diagnosed with carpal tunnel. An injury that has been affecting his performance for more than 18 months.

Van Gerwen was drawn against Jules van Dongen in the first round of the US Masters and comfortably dispatched of him 6-4.

His most recent comments after his match against Van Dongen have surprised, and angered, many darts fans.

In an interview, this is what MVG had to say about Jules: "What else can he do? He has to do that because with all due respect, he doesn't even have 20% of the talent I've got.

"You have to do something, you know what I mean, and with all the respect to him, that's the facts."

This is definitely one of those comments that could come back to slap you right in the face.

After disrespecting Jules like that, I'm sure you will find this video circulating in the media if/when Van Gerwen is knocked out.

As mentioned earlier, it's a comment that darts fans aren't happy with, with plenty having their say on social media.

In terms of his career in darts, Jules van Dongen, known as the 'Dutch Dragon', has reached the finals of two USA series tournaments. In 2008, he started his career as an assistant manager at Sneakers.

No doubt he would have enjoyed sharing the stage with the legend that is Van Gerwen, but he wouldn't have been impressed with the post-match interview, that's for sure.
